First Blog/March Madness

Hey team. So, this is my first time with the whole blog thing, but I figure if every other idiot has their own forum, why not this idiot? In all truthfulness, we all know that my opinions are the correct opinions and everyone who doesn't agree with me can shut it. My blog will mainly pertain to the sporting world, mostly local, in a woeful attempt to be widely read enough to obtain press passes to major sporting events.

That being said, it is important to me as a person who values honesty that I reveal my biases. First things first, all sports from Denver and the surrounding area equal good and all things sports from Boston and the surrounding area equal evil. I like to poke fun at Cubs fans, but do get upset when my Cubs fan friends start to cry at the mention of 1908 and I really, really, really hope my beloved Rockies do not put me in to the same sort of psychosis for the rest of my life. I also love my Yankees, and don't call me a bandwagon jumper, that will really piss me off, they were my team prior to the Rockies. I really like NASCAR and if you don't you secretly hate yourself. Also, I am an admitted member of a NASCAR fantasy league, but I am happy to say that I'm almost four months sober from that. I really hate bandwagon jumpers. The Rockies 2007 season of amazingness was great and enraged me at the same time, bandwagon jumpers everywhere. I already had the trombone section covered, didn't need anymore trombones. Finally, I need to share my biases on some major sports figures: O.J. did it, Kobe did it, Pete Rose did it but should be in the Hall of Fame, Roger Clemens, Mark McGuire, Sammy Sosa did it.

On to the first blog. It's one of the most wonderful times of the year. However, it's not just March Madness that I'm speaking of. We are in the heart of Championship Week, the part of the year where 31 of the 65 teams get into the Big Dance. Sure, there are a bunch of teams you've never heard of and who the Hell knew Oakland was in Michigan? However, Championship Week is the purest form of sport we have in the United States that's broadcast nationally.  These Mid and Low Major teams are not competing to have someone drafted in the first round or for the prestige that comes with winning the Summit Conference or the Southland Conference. These teams are playing for the chance to play another night. They are playing to take on the next opponent, whoever that may be. They know that they probably have no chance against their next opponent, but should they pull it off it will be the greatest moment of their lives. The best part of March Madness is that all teams have a chance, the BCS should take note, but I digress.  If any team in Div. I gets hot and plays to the best of their ability, they can not be taken out their chances can not be broken unless they are beaten by another team. My Northern Colorado Bears were 9 wins from a National Championship, I love that. So, my friends, be sure to catch some of Championship Week. There are still some great games ahead this week.

Also, tell your friends about me!!!
